Art Deco Mirrors
Using Art Deco mirrors to decorate your house can be tricky and
have negative results. Most of these mirrors have strange shapes and designs so they must be handled lightly and
used sparingly. Art Deco mirrors require space around them so they can be appreciated and enjoyed. Some of the
mirrors you find in garage sales or corner stores are unique and exclusive vintage models. The bottom line is that
some of them require a special decoration taste to be liked and appreciated.
They do not look good on small crowded walls; they need space
to breathe and take up the viewer’s attention. They need to be alone to be appreciated by the onlooker. When you
think of a mirror in your living room or dining room you must think about it as a painting or other wall
decoration, not as a mirror where people will come and look at themselves. That’s what bathroom mirrors are made
for, for you to fix your makeup and make sure tie is on straight.
They combine and help to the general mood you are trying to set in the room. Art Deco mirrors are beautiful and
best of all, different from the majority you find in most homes. So if you find one that you really like and want
to hang on your living room wall, think about the other decorative items you will be setting around it. They do not
necessarily have to be Art Deco stuff too but they must not clash or interfere with the mirror in any way. This
would break the flow of energy in the room and especially on that wall.
The complete room does not have to be decorated and designed
around the mirror. Only the adjacent areas must be in harmony with it so people can see all its characteristics and
style. In fact, if the Art Deco mirror you have chosen for your home is large, let him have the whole wall,
leave it alone and it will take care of the rest. If the mirror has a dark frame, paint the wall white, if the
frame is colored or it doesn’t have a frame at all, paint the wall in a color that is darker than the rest of the
room but matches the remaining colors.
The wall itself will be your mirrors frame and will be better appreciated by the onlookers. The colors and lonely
wall will bring out all the characteristics and details that attracted you to buy it in the first place. It will
look great and you will not have to worry if the vase or the table looks okay besides your mirror, it will be left
alone to fend for itself with its own character and design.
Anyway, you are the person who lives in that house, it is you
that has to like the decoration and the things you have not anybody else. So if you find an Art Deco mirror you
like; even if it is strange and different bring it home and enjoy it.
